Hi Simon,
My Cooper S has been really transformed. The
extra boost from the AMD
Technik 15% reduction pulley combined with the
"one-click" ECU remap device
from the same company has provided very significant
power and torque gains.
The extra boost complemented by the improved fuel
and timing mapping
provides the driver with greater flexibility.
Torque comes in a lower part
of the rev range and power is delivered earlier
and keeps developing all the
way through to red line. A common problem with
the standard Cooper S is the
overly tall first gear which often results in
a "yo yo" effect when moving
off from a standing start. This issue disappears
with AMD treatment and
allows the driver to move off the line quickly
without excessive revs or
clutch work and wind out to 75-77 km/h in first
gear!
At the other end of the gear range a driver can
now use 6th gear comfortably
at moderate speeds without labouring the engine
to take advantage of the
improved lower end torque. Therefore, a driver
can enjoy fantastic
acceleration or superior economy whenever it suits.
There really is no need to feel uncomfortable
when mixing it up with the
hordes of V8s and Japanese imports on our streets
anymore. Sure, the Mini
can whip around the corners faster than most vehicles
out there, however,
the modest power of the stock Cooper S can leave
the Mini enthusiast
wanting. The AMD Technik pulley and "one-click"
package addresses this need
to give the Cooper S driver tremendous bang for
buck and a truly great
driving experience!
Cheers and cya Saturday
Carl

Hi Simon,
Scorpion exhaust and high-flow race cat with the
replacement K&N filter has done alot for the
car. Done 180kms since installation and mid-range
is definitely stronger. 1st gear pre-installation
used to pull about 60kph and now easily does 70kph.
Very pleased with the results. Even passengers
have noticed... and I not talking about the deeper
exhaust tone. I think if a customer is going to
get a Scorpion exhaust they should seriously think
about the high-flow cat and filter as well.
Cheers
Carl

Subject: Scorpion Exhaust
Simon,
Thanks for your response, I will e-mail AMD with
a few additional questions about the One-Click
.
As far as the Scorpion Exhaust is concerned, I
couldn't be happier. I was looking for good sound,
(but not loud), good quality, and good looks at
a fair price. I was very pleased to see the Quality
and Workmanship is of the highest standard. I
love the oval tips, they make a statement to those
who are familar with Mini's that "this is
not a stock (beer can) exhaust".
Last but not least, the price, I saved a couple
of hundred dollars over the more commonly known
brands.
I have recommended it on the Forums (MCO,MINI2).
Best Regards, Mike
